Face Sunscreen Faves

We talk A LOT about routines over at Lash Spell! And we know that incorporating a quality sunscreen into your daily routine is key to prevent premature aging and reduce your risk of skin cancer.  Sunscreen also helps to keep our skin looking young by preventing fine lines and dark spots on our face.

WHEN TO APPLY SUNSCREEN

Applying sunscreen to your face should be a last step in your skincare routine. Typically, we advise to apply Brow Spell as your last step in your skincare routine both AM & PM, so for morning use, we recommend applying Brow Spell before your sunscreen and make sure to let it dry for 30 seconds before moving on to sunscreen application.

NOW THE GOOD STUFF

About a year ago I polled my friends and family for their favorite face sunscreens. I am ultra picky when it comes to my face and I also have pretty sensitive skin. A sunscreen that is too oily can wreak havoc on my skin.  At the end of the post I will share out with you the other top contenders that came from that poll… but here are the ones that I swear by. There are TWO that I rotate between - Elta MD (I have both the tinted & the regular ones) and Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen.

SUPERGOOP I LOVE, LOVE Supergoop - the consistency and the way it glides on my skin and has zero greasy feeling. It feels silky and light, and it truly fits the “unseen sunscreen” name.  An all-around great sunscreen, and one that I would use under makeup.  I use this one more often as part of my daily routine.

ELTA MD If I’m going to the beach or on a hike, I prefer the Elta MD sunscreen. I really don’t have a preference between the tinted and regular sunscreen but I typically do not wear makeup at the beach so the tinted one is a good base if I feel I need a little extra coverage for blemishes.  Compared to the Supergoop sunscreen, I feel that this one is slightly better on coverage and a bit more protection.  I'm not sure if it's in my head because the consistency is thicker than Unseen Sunscreen. Either way, I'd wear both all day, everyday.

GRAB A SOMBRERO To ensure you keep your face free of sun exposure (after sunscreen) you can always throw on a hat to keep those rays at bay.  I just recently got this adorable straw hat from local Justin at El Rancho Carpintero. It's perfect for the beach, camping, or just having a picnic in the backyard.

As promised, here are the others that friends/family have recommended… as soon as I run out of my current faves I will be trying the below:

Skin Magician Daily Protection Sunscreen

Image Skincare Protection Plus

La Roche Posay

Chantecaille

Shiseidu
